Help Renters Stop an Eviction Before it Starts (Remote Opportunity)

Help vulnerable renters and families resolve disputes with their landlords before they escalate to the point of eviction and possible homelessness. Pro bono attorneys contact the offending party, usually through a letter or phone call, with the goal of keeping tenants in their homes and out of court. Early dispute resolution can avoid the painful experience of going to eviction court and the long-lasting negative consequences of eviction on families and communities. This opportunity can be done completely remotely.

Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing levels the playing field in eviction court by providing legal services to Chicago’s renters facing eviction or other issues that contribute to housing instability, such as foreclosure-related problems, utility shutoffs, unsafe or substandard building conditions, and building vacates and mass evictions.
