Help Veterans Across Illinois through the IL Armed Forces Legal Assistance Network (IL-AFLAN)

IL-AFLAN provides civil legal services across Illinois to veterans, active duty military and their spouses and dependents. It is a network comprised of legal aid organizations and law school clinics across Illinois, one of which is PILI. Through IL-AFLAN’s Network, PILI accepts referrals and places them with pro bono attorneys in the 101 counties in Illinois outside of Cook County. PILI provides training and support to volunteer attorneys and offers malpractice coverage. Volunteers assist clients in a broad range of areas of civil law, including family law, probate, estate planning, consumer issues, and landlord-tenant matters. Volunteers may provide brief legal advice, limited scope representation, or full legal representation, depending on the case.

The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) is a statewide organization that connects law students and lawyers with those in need of free legal services. Through its Pro Bono Program, PILI works to increase the availability of pro bono legal help for those who cannot afford an attorney in Illinois by developing innovative pro bono opportunities, offering pro bono programming and resources, cultivating best practices, and celebrating the life-changing pro bono performed throughout the state.
