Advance Directives and Property Transfers (ADAPT) Pro Bono Project

Pro bono attorneys advise clients about and prepare Advance Directives and Property Transfers: Powers of Attorney for Health Care and Property, Living Wills, and TODIs (Transfer on Death Instruments). Conduct telephone interviews with clients to gather information and then meet to execute and finalize documents.

Legal Aid Chicago is a civil legal aid organization that provides free legal services to people living in poverty in metropolitan Chicago, and other vulnerable members of our community—including seniors, veterans, disabled people, and victims of human trafficking and domestic violence.

Fixed Time Commitment

Time commitment

Volunteers sign up for 3 hour shifts for client appointments. Volunteers are expected to complete one 3-hour shift per month.

Training and support

Volunteers must complete an online training which can be done from the volunteer’s office. After training, support of Legal Aid Chicago attorneys is provided throughout duration of the case.
